THE MONTH THAT WAS FEBRUARY

AND THAT A.G.M.

Younger Parky’s Meeting

We are trying to organise a wee get together for our Younger Members in the group.

The plan is to meet once a month on a Tuesday night, in Nachos Fiesta on the High Street in Galashiels, and have a bite to eat off of their rather reasonable menu, from 6 o’clock to about 9 o’clock or earlier if transport to Galashiels is difficult. When we say young I don’t mean anyone who is under 21!!  We are not going to be specific with the age group but you know yourself if you are suitable for the young group. So if you would like to come along I need an idea of numbers to go to Nachos with and then I can set a  date for us to get together.  It is only a meeting by name, we won’t have any speakers or that it’s just a chance of a pint and somefin to eat and a blether wi’ fellow Young Parky’s there families and friends.

The local branch of the MS Society do this once a month and they get around half a dozen folk turning up, which I think, is brilliant. We’d really like to get this off the ground because it is something we have been sadly missing over the years in the Borders.  On a personal note I would love the chance to have a blether with other ying yinz on a regular basis, if you feel the same let Gary know of your interest on-

We look forward to hearing from you and meeting with you hopefully in March.

Welcome to..... well this is day three (it’s actually 4 now), of sitting in front of the screen wondering what to right sorry write!!  For this month’s newsletter I think Sir Walter Scott would call it writers block!!!!  Or as he also put it where’s a’ the words gone?

Well here goes, if Hilary will stop chatting to me!!

This month’s Monday meeting will be on Monday 27th February at the Chaplaincy where we will be having a bingo day!! So eyes down.

The meeting is 2-4 and remember we have tea/coffee and biscuits and a chat to catch up with one another and see whit we’ve been up to. If you haven’t been to a meeting on a Monday the Bingo is a nice wee day to get to meet folk, and as ever we will have the woman wi that therapeutic touch Lesley who will be doing Indian heed massages. Last month we had a crackin turnout at the A.G.M., and I thank everyone for taking the time to come, it was mighty reassuring to see 80 of you turn out on the day!!  What a response.............Thank you!!

I don’t have any dates for the diary except the one above oh and just to say we’re still looking for volunteers for Tesco Galashiels on the 30th and 31st of March can you spare any time to assist in the collection for your local group here in the Borders, if so get in touch, the more the merrier!

Anyway enjoy your newsletter (which doesn’t normally take me 4 days to write).

A final note, I was just exaggerating that there were 80 at the A.G.M.  There was around 30 folk attending which was just as good as 80 in my mind!!  So thank you to all who took the time.

ANOTHER SMILE FROM THE EDITOR

WHY DO CATS NOT SHAVE?

BOGIE CLOSE STOMPERS

While I was partaking in a bit of light refreshment in the Toon Arms in Selkirk, I was approached by some members of the Bogie Close Stompers, asking if we had another night like we had last year planned? As they enjoyed playing to the audience so much they want to do it again.

I think feedback isn’t required on this one we will try and get a stompers night planned for 2012 all I can say is

She’ll be coming round the mountain when she comes.

Watch this space.

Nights Oot!!

After being approached by a member of the Group asking why don’t we have a Scocha night?

We don’t mean organising one like Jill and Graham did a couple years ago, no that’s a big job! a big big job!!  No what we is planning is to catch up with Scocha in Concert and book around 30 seats and reserve some tables

and go along as a group and enjoy the lads together.... you’re always guaranteed a teesh time wi’ Scocha.

Interested? Get in touch with Gary in the usual way; he looks forward to hearing from you.

A BIT FROM THE A.G.M.

The treasurer’s report was given at the A.G.M., by the right honourable Tony Taylor, we would like to thank Tony for all the hard work he does over the year, and also thank him for agreeing to do it for another year!!

Unfortunately funds were down quite a bit from last year, but as a group we are doing well. But we are always open for ideas to fund raise like this one from oor Parky Nurse, Jill is going round Hawick Rugby Club at a match with a muckle big bucket and doing a collection,, what a braw idea so Gary is going to make enquiries for Selkirk RFC, if you have any fund raising ideas, don’t be shy share them with a member of the Committee.
