Well I nearly forgot that I had a newsletter to write, it’s been right strange not writing a newsletter furra coupla months, now ah’ve no been doin’ them it’s strange to write them again. But here we are writers block I think they call it, I call it am so oot the habit what the heck dae a write this month syndrome. “

Nae funny stories tae tell you, nae meetings to report on, so let’s just wait and let ma fingers do the talking……. scary thought indeed.

Well we do hope you had a guid summer, even without the summer sun!! The summer sun seems to be showing its face in Autumn though.

So it is really nice to be back hope you enjoy what you read, cos contrary to whit I said above there is a lot going on fur Parky’s in the Scottish Borders.

The train now arriving on platform 1

is early

Well I think a guid day was had by all as our summer outing this year ventured up to Bo’ness Steam Railway fur ‘eftir-nin tea!’ An quite a substantial spread was served up by oor hosts. Once we sorted one oa oor group, (ye’ll never guess who), whose two sachets oa sugar was just not enough for him, but after a whip roond 23 sachets was! Thankfully! But it was a great day if not a slightly long one, unfortunately the rain didn’t stop for the day… well it wouldn’t be a summer outing without the rain! The afternoon tea was held in the oldey worldy buffet carriage, giving you the feel of whit it wis like travelling by steam railway in those days.

Unfortunately for Jim that was coffee in the cup an no a wee dram! Lines are now open for next year’s summer outing; we realise we will have to have less of a journey to get there as the long journey by bus is very tiring for many of us. So get in touch with any ideas.

PEEBLES GROUP SUMMER LUNCH

Peebles had their annual tea oot in July this year heading up to Peebles Golf Club …. naw no furra game oa golf but mair for the grub they serve in the 19th hole! From feedback received it was a jolly night an guid value fur money.  The grub was very yummy we hear. Gary never managed to make it this year as when he was getting dressed for the night he put his socks on and he found had a ‘hole-in-one!’ Boom Boom!!

As with all concerned with groups Peebles will recon recognv rekon get together again in September, Thursday 15th September 10 – 12

NEWCASTLETON SUPPORT GROUP NEWS – From our Newcastleton reporter/organiser Ann Hardy

Hi all

Hope you have/are having a good summer.

We have Paul Smith, Church Army, coming to give a chat about his work with the Grafted Project here in Newcastleton, Hawick and Galashiels. Paul has been to our group several times before and he is a fellow scouser. Rob has arranged that Helen Byers, Parkinson Support will visit in October.  If anyone has any ideas for the November me let me know.  Peter has thought about a lunch of soup and sweet for November. I will not be here for the September meeting, but the coffee, tea and biscuits will be - and let's face it that's all that matters! See you soon.

Anne
